“And now, dear children, continue to live in fellowship with Christ so that when He returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from Him in shame” 1John 2:28 (NLT). The word Fellowship in Greek is Koinonia which means a deep sense of spiritual communion with the Lord and with each other. Fellowship also means sharing, unity, close association, partnership, and a communion.
I believe as His children, the Lord crave that fellowship from us, fellowship in the word of God and in prayer. Fellowship brings favour, out of fellowship brings disfavor. “This is a faithful saying; for if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself” 2Timothy 2:11-13.
Where there is fellowship there is deep communication, sharing and obedience will be easy. It’s not that we don’t have the fellowship already but to continue to live in this fellowship with Christ. At this time that we have distractions and distracters all around us, we must make it our ultimate priority to keep this fellowship intimate with the Lord.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour”. 1Peter 5:8. What the devil want to devour is your fellowship with the Lord, and he brings different things to distract you and make you busy and will make you not to have quality time with the Lord (in the word, prayer and soul winning). You need to resist him (fight against him) and be steadfast in the faith, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrew 12:2).
“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal; the Lord knows those who are His and let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honour and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the letter, sanctified and useful for the master, prepared for every good work” 2Timothy 2:19-21. Whatever vessels we may think we are; gold, silver or wood. If you think you are a wood, you do not need to lament, just cleanse yourself by being intimate in fellowship with the Lord and you will be a vessel of honour, sanctified and useful for the master prepared for every good work. “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” 2Corinthians 3:18.
This year our fellowship with the Lord is very important. His return is very close, “Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown” Revelation 3:11. What will make us to reign with Him when He appears is our intimate fellowship with Him.
Perhaps you are reading this article and you don’t have fellowship with the Lord Jesus and you crave to have one, Jesus is already at the door of your heart, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him and he with Me” Revelation 3:20.
Please open the door of your heart to Him today, tomorrow may be too late. The bible says “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” Romans 10:9-10.
If you want to receive Jesus Christ into your life—please pray this prayer:
LORD JESUS CHRIST, I CONFESS YOU AS MY LORD AND PERSONAL SAVIOUR.
I BELIEVE YOU DIED AND ROSE AGAIN FOR MY SALVATION.
LORD JESUS, COME INTO MY HEART, FORGIVE ME MY SINS AND CLEANSE ME WITH YOUR BLOOD. I RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE INTO MY SPIRIT
THANK YOU JESUS FOR SAVING ME. AM NOW A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN (AMEN)
